News Olivier Nominee Kevyn Morrow Will Star in Free Reading of New Musical Color Blind; Robert Bartley Directs The New York Musical Theatre Festival will present a free reading of Color Blind July 25 at the 45th Street Theatre as part of its Developmental Reading Series.

The 7:30 PM reading will be directed by Robert Bartley, the creator/director/choreographer of the annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS benefit Broadway Backwards, and the director/choreographer of the upcoming Off-Broadway production, Bed Bugs: The Musical; and Character Man, the newest one-man show by Jim Brochu.

The cast for the upcoming reading will be led by Olivier Award nominee Kevyn Morrow (Ragtime) and Andrea Frierson (Rafiki in The Lion King) and will feature Carla Duren and Charles M. Baskerville with Kyle Garvin and Rachael Ferrera. W. Brent Sawyer is the musical director.

Color Blind features book and lyrics by Laura Cunningham and Lynn Szigeti, and music by Ken Martinak, Cunningham and Szigeti. The new musical asks the question: "How do you feel when someone puts you in a box? Six Black Americans confront this issue when a talented high school senior refuses to check the box marked ‘Black American’ on his college application. When the past confronts the present with unintended consequences, can this conflicted teen remain true to his ideals as his life spins out of control?"

The new musical is produced by Judy Gordon.

Admission to this developmental reading is free and available at www.nymf.org/colorblind. The performance is 90 minutes with no intermission.
