To bear… with unbearable sorrow
To end… at Maryland's Olney Theatre Center Dec. 30. The musical adaptation by Dale Wasserman, Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion of Miguel de Cervantes' classic novel "Don Quixote," which began its run Nov. 21 at the Olney under the direction of John Going, is set to close as schedule before the new year.
Richard White, who lent his vocal tones to the film version of "Beauty and the Beast" takes on the leading man role as Don Quixote/ Cervantes. Playing his paunchy sidekick Sancho is Michael J. Farina (the Broadway revival of My Fair Lady). And, slipping into the role of his would be-Dulcinea, Lauren Mufson plays Aldonza.
The rest of the cast includes David James, John C. Bailey, Steven Tipton, Harry A. Winter, Morgan Duncan, Stephan de Ghelder, Santiago Murillo, James Alba, Michael Omohundro, Christopher Lane, Brian Childers, Benjamin Shirley, Peggy Yates, Ilona Dulaski, Michael Hayward-Jones, Lynn Sharp Spears, Mary Payne and Kenny Morris.
The creative team includes Jon Kalbfleisch as musical director, Sharon Halley as choreographer, Daniel Conway on sets, Dan Covey on lights, Howard Tvsi Kaplan on costumes, and Ron Ursano on sound.
