News One-Acts by Neil LaBute and Christopher Durang Set for Summer Shorts Fesitval World-premiere plays by Christopher Durang, Tina Howe, Neil LaBute and José Rivera will be featured in the fifth annual Summer Shorts Festival this August.

The annual one-act play festival is presented in two separate series running in repertory Aug. 4-Sept. 3. Summer Shorts takes place at 59E59 Theaters. Throughline Artists (J.J. Kandel and John McCormack) presents the event. All productions will have scenic design by George Xenos, costume design by Michael Bevins and lighting design by Greg MacPherson.

The plays will include In This, Our Time…, by Alexander Dinelaris (Zanna Don’t, Still Life), directed by J.J. Kandel; Triple Trouble With Love, written and directed by Durang (Beyond Therapy, Marriage of Bette and Boo); Some Women In Their Thirties Simply Start To Fall, by Howe (Painting Churches, Coastal Disturbances), directed by Billy Hopkins; The War on Terror, by LaBute (reasons to be pretty, Fat Pig), directed by Dolores Rice; The Green Book, written and directed by Will Scheffer ("Big Love); Clap Your Hands, by Keith Reddin (Rum and Coke), directed by Billy Hopkins; Lessons For An Unaccustomed Bride, by Rivera ("The Motorcycle Diaries", References To Salvador Dalí Make Me Hot ), directed by Jen Wineman; and Carrie & Francine, by 17-year-old Ruby Spiegel, directed by Laura Barnett.
