News Opening Date for Dracula, The Musical Changed to Aug. 19 Dracula, The Musical will open on Broadway Aug. 19, a few days later than originally announced, the producers said July 22.

As previously reported, previews for the new dark musical romance begin 8 PM July 28 at the Belasco Theatre. The start date was changed several times owing to the need for additional tech rehearsals in the physically complicated show in which vampires fly. To allow more time for performances before the press comes, the opening date of Aug. 16 was changed to Aug. 19.

Dracula stars Tom Hewitt as Dracula and Melissa Errico as Mina Murray.

Inspired by Bram Stoker's gothic novel about the vampire count, Dracula features book and lyrics by Don Black (Sunset Blvd., Aspects of Love) and Christopher Hampton (Sunset Blvd., Les Liaisons Dangereuses) and music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel). Two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Big River, The Who's Tommy) directs, with choreographed by Mindy Cooper.

Tickets are on sale at www.telecharge.com. The Belasco is at 111 W. 44th Street.
