Noël Coward's The Rat Trap opens its American premiere Off-Broadway at New York City Center November 21. The drama about a newlywed couple plays a limited engagement which began previews November 1, and is set to run through December 10.

A pair of newlywed writers as they vow to support and love each other through everything—including the creative and professional ambitions and trials of their work. Things, however, do not go the way the newlyweds hoped for.

Starring in the cast are James Evans (The Woman in Black), Elisabeth Gray (Yours Unfaithfully, Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's), Ramzi Khalaf (Pippin, A Christmas Carol: A New Musical), Heloise Lowenthal, Cynthia Mace (The Mountains Look Different, The Suitcase Under the Bed), Claire Saunders (Chains), and Sarin Monae West (The Skin of Our Teeth). Emily Bosco, Jason Eddy, and Kate Hampton serve as understudies.

Alexander Lass directs the drama, the first play written alone by a then-18-year-old Coward. Published in 1924 and produced in 1926 following successful productions of Coward's The VortexFallen Angels, and Hay Fever, the sharper drama was not well received by audiences who were used to Coward's lighter works.

The production features scenic design by Vicki R. Davis, costume design by Hunter Kaczorowski, lighting design by Christian DeAngelis, sound design by Bill Toles, dialect coaching by Amy Stoller, and casting by Stephanie Klapper.
