Classic Arts News Opera Company of Philadelphia Announces 2006-07 Season The Opera Company of Philadelphia's 2006-07 season will include Puccini's La bohme, Rossini's Cinderella, Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, and Verdi's Falstaff, the organization announced.
The company's 150th season will open October 27 with La bohme, featuring Canadian tenor Roger Honeywell as Rodolfo; Albanian soprano Ermonela Jaho, in her company debut, as MimÐ; soprano Sari Gruber as Musetta, and baritone Troy Cook, making his company debut, as Marcello. Corrado Rovaris conducts; artistic director Robert B. Driver directs.

The season continues with Cinderella; the cast incles mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose as Cinderella and tenor Lawrence Brownlee in his company debut as Don Ramiro. Corrado Rovaris conducts.

In February the company presents Porgy and Bess, a co-production with Indianapolis Opera, with sets by Felix Cochren. The cast includes baritone Greg Baker as Porgy and soprano Angela Brown, the rising star who appears in OCP's Margaret Garner this month, as Bess. Stefan Lano, who leads Garner, conducts; Walter Dallas directs.

The season finishes with Falstaff. Baritone Roberto de Candia is Falstaff and soprano Christine Goerke is Alice Ford. Rovaris conducts; Driver directs; Paul Shortt is the set designer.
