Lee Daniels' film has reignited Winfrey's love for acting she stated.

"Now that I know I can pull that instrument out and tune it up a bit, I would like to do some other acting," Winfrey said. "I really am in a free space now — 'free' meaning I can reorganize my schedule a different way. But it would have to be something really compelling."

As recently as 2011, Winfrey stated that she had been in talks with Broadway producers about a potential stage project following the end of her long-running talk show. At one point Winfrey revealed she was reading a "stack of plays," and that Kenny Leon had approached her about starring in his revival of Fences, but scheduling did not work out.

It now appears that the Academy Award-nominated "Color Purple" and "Beloved" star is taking yet another look at Broadway. "Yeah, Broadway is definitely in my future. Nothing is set as of yet, but it’s there. I see it. Broadway is in my future," she told the Daily News.

Winfrey said she has also spoken with Tony Award-winning director George C. Wolfe (Lucky Guy; Caroline, or Change) about a miniseries exploring the Harlem Renaissance.

Winfrey was the lead producer on the musical version of The Color Purple.
