Loretta Devine, most known to Broadway fans as the original Lorrell in Dreamgirls, will star in the Kim Bass-helmed Headshop. The new film recently began shooting, according to Deadline.
The movie tells the story of a therapist who tries to reconnect to her roots after a devastating loss. She opens a new office in an area that is very resilient towards her services. When her neighbors slowly but surely begin to open up, they unexpectedly give her a sense of community.
The indie comedy also features Kimberly Elise and Deon Cole.
Devine currently stars in NBC’s The Carmichael Show. In addition to Dreamgirls, her Broadway credits include Hair, Comin' Uptown, and Big Deal.
