Original New York cast members Jeremy Beck, Mike Doyle, Sevan Greene and Waleed F. Zuaiter have been announced to reprise their work in the Los Angeles staging, which will run Feb. 18-22 at the Skirball Cultural Center.
Pippin Parker returns to direct the play that was born from Packer's 2007 New Yorker article about Iraqis risking their lives to aid the American war effort. Betrayed marked the playwrighting debut of journalist George Packer.
Betrayed, according to press notes, "tells the story of three young Iraqis - two men and one woman - who were motivated to risk everything by America's promise of freedom. The award-winning play explores their complex relationships with each other and with their American supervisor as they struggle to find purpose even as their country collapses around them."
Betrayed will be presented at the Skirball Cultural Center and will be recorded and subsequently broadcast on L.A.T.W.'s nationally syndicated radio theatre series "The Play's the Thing."
For tickets, priced $20-$48, to any of "The Play's The Thing" productions at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, call the L.A. Theatre Works box office at (310) 827-0889. For more information visit latw.org.
