LAByrinth Theatre Company regulars John Ortiz, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Elizabeth Sherman Canavan, Florencia Lozano and Robert Glaudini will appear in the works presented at the troupe's annual Barn Series Festival, starting Sept. 1.

The 2004 free reading series will run through Sept. 22 at The Public Theater — where the company is once again in residence.

Among the playwrights to present developing works include Rebecca Cohen, Gian DiDonna, Robert Glaudini, Carson Kreitzer, Padraic Lillis, Charles L. Mee, Megan Mostyn-Brown, Michael Puzzo, Joe Quintero and José Rivera. LAB co-artistic directors (and well-known actors) Philip Seymour Hoffman (Long Day's Journey Into Night) and John Ortiz (Anna in the Tropics) are among the directors to stage the readings.

  • Into The Sunset by Rebecca Cohen (Sept. 15 & 18) Dir. John Gould Rubin
  • School of the Americas written and directed by José Rivera (Sept. 16 & 17)
  • Faster Beats The Furious Heart by Michael Puzzo (Sept. 20 & 22) Dir. Padraic Lillis


    LAByrinth's 13th season includes the world premieres of John Patrick Shanley's Sailor's Song, José Rivera's Massacre (Sing to Your Children) and Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Last Days of Judas Iscariot.
