News   Oscar Nominee Jackie Weaver Joins "Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks" Film
Jacki Weaver and Julian Sands have joined the cast of the film adaptation of Richard Alfieri's "Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks," which will star Cheyenne Jackson and Gena Rowlands.

Weaver earned an Academy Award nomination for "Silver Linings Plabook." Sands is known for the recent film of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." Arthur Allan Seidelman, who also helmed the stage production, directs the screenplay adapted by Alfieri from his play. Filming is currently underway in Hungary, with additional filming to take place in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Jackson plays Michael Minetti opposite Rowlands (Middle of the Night) as Lily Harrison. In the film, Harrison, a Florida widow, hires a New York dance instructor (Jackson) for six weeks, and despite differences, the two discover they have more in common than they thought, and a friendship blossoms.

The cast also features Tony and Academy Award winner Rita Moreno and Kathleen Rose Perkins.

Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks played a brief, 56-performance Broadway run in fall 2003. The New York cast featured stage and screen veteran Polly Bergen and Mark Hamill of "Star Wars" fame.

The play has been produced in over 20 countries across the globe since its premiere.  Andras Somkuti produces the film with Marc Platt and Jerry Offsay as executive producers.
