Outer Critics Circle Awards honor the best of Broadway and Off-Broadway. Jeff Talbott's acclaimed Off-Broadway, race-themed play, The Submission, was awarded the John Gassner Award, which is presented for an American play, preferably by a new playwright.

Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, along with Josh Gad, last year's OCC winner for Outstanding Actor in a Musical (The Book of Mormon); Montego Glover, 2010 OCC winner for Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Memphis); and playwright Jon Robin Baitz, last year’s OCC winner for Other Desert Cities will serve as presenters at the organization's 62nd Annual Award ceremony May 24 at Sardi's Restaurant.

Outer Critics will present an honorary award to The Public Theater on its 50th anniversary presenting free theatre at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Stiller and Meara, alumni of Shakespeare in the Park and Public Theater productions, will present the special award to Public artistic director Oskar Eustis and executive director Patrick Willingham.
