CHICAGO--As the title suggests, Let Me Live takes place in a prison--cell # 7 of a 1932 Georgia jail. That hellhole will be recreated April 20 when the play opens at Goodman Studio in a co- production with Onyx Theatre Ensemble. Based on the experiences of Angelo Herndon, this latest work by OyamO depicts a young political activist who discovers, through the self-oppression of his cellmates, the larger injustice of the African American experience in 20th century America.

Onyx artistic director Ron O.J. Parsons directs Oyamo's "back to the future" memory play. It runs through May 10.
