Classic Arts News Palm Beach Opera Makes Interim Director Permanent Florida's Palm Beach Opera has named interim general director Maria C. Nagid to the permanent post of general director, the company announced.
Nagid has served in an interim capacity since July, according to the Palm Beach Daily News. Former general director R. Joseph Barnett stepped down in December 2003.

A native of Havana, Nagid studied at the National Conservatory of Music there before moving to the United States in 1969. She began working for the Palm Beach Opera as a volunteer in 1979 and was eventually hired as a full-time employee, working as education coordinator and artistic administrator.

The company also announced that tenor Plšcido Domingo will headline its annual gala benefit on February 27, 2005.
