Directed by Jerry Zaks, the semi-autobiographical solo show will play the California venue Sept. 23-Oct. 19. The production concludes the 2007-2008 Citibank Best of Broadway season, under the direction of Carole Shorenstein Hays.

The performance schedule at the Golden Gate will be Tuesday-Saturday at 8 PM with matinees Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM. Tickets, priced $40-$85, will go on sale this summer. For more information visit visit www.shnsf.com.

According to BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com, the national tour of Bronx Tale has also scheduled stops at Milwaukee's Uihlein Hall (March 24-29, 2009) and Baltimore's Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick P.A.C. (April 14-26, 2009). Additional venues are expected.

Bronx Tale — which Palminteri performed in Los Angeles and Off-Broadway in the late '80s, inspiring the 1993 film of the same name — began previews at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre Oct. 4, 2007, and officially opened Oct. 25.

The 18-week run, which had been scheduled to end Feb. 10, was extended through Feb. 24 due to ticket demand. The Jerry Zaks-directed production played a total of 19 previews and 108 regular performances. Go Productions, in association with Jujamcyn Theaters, produced the New York run. The show was one of the many darkened by the 2007 stagehands strike.

In A Bronx Tale, Palminteri plays 18 roles that depict "a rough childhood on Bronx streets populated by a cast of friends and enemies," according to press notes.

The Broadway design team comprised Paul Gallo (lighting design), James Noone (set design) and John Gromada (original music and sound design). Palminteri's wardrobe was provided by Italian menswear designer ISAIA.

The 1993 film "A Bronx Tale" was directed by Robert De Niro. The film featured Palminteri and De Niro as well as Lillo Brancato, Francis Capra, Taral Hicks, Kathrine Narducci and Joe Pesci.

About the film, Palminteri told Variety, "Over the years I've done over 50 movies, but everybody comes over to me and talks to me about 'Bronx Tale.' I walk down the street, I have people yelling lines from the movie at me. It's bigger than me."

Palminteri has also been seen on screen in "The Usual Suspects" and "Bullets Over Broadway"; he received an Academy Award nomination for his work in the latter. His last New York stage appearance was in the 2002 Al Pacino production of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui.
