News Paper Mill Allergist's Wife Casts Its Allergist Lenny Wolpe, who starred in the Paper Mill production of Gypsy, will star in that theatre's production of The Tale of the Allergist's Wife.

Wolpe will portray Dr. Ira Taub in the New Jersey premiere of Charles Busch's Tony-nominated play, which begins previews Jan. 7, 2004. Directed by Carl Andress, Allergist's Wife will run through Feb. 8. Additional casting is expected shortly.

Lenny Wolpe appeared on Broadway in Onward Victoria, Copperfield, Mayor, Into the Light and the recent revival of The Sound of Music. He played Herbie opposite Betty Buckley's Rose in the Paper Mill production of Gypsy, and he recently starred in the Goodspeed mounting of The Baker's Wife. Wolpe's television credits include "Six Feet Under," "Ally McBeal," "King of Queens" and "Strong Medicine."

After a successful run Off-Broadway, Busch's comedy, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, played Broadway's Ethel Barrymore Theatre 777 performances: Oct. 12, 2000-Sept. 15, 2002. The original Broadway cast included Linda Lavin, Michele Lee, Tony Robert, Shirl Bernheim and Anil Kumar. The play received three 2001 Tony nominations.
