Director-actor David Cromer is taking a hiatus from the role in his acclaimed new production of Thornton Wilder's classic to honor a regional directing commitment. He's staging Aaron Sorkin's The Farnsworth Invention at Alley Theatre in Houston.

Obie Award winner Cromer will return to Grover's Corners, the setting of the three-act play at Barrow Street Theatre, in mid-June.

The current cast at the Barrow Street in Greenwich Village features (in alphabetical order) Jeremy Beiler as Sam Craig, Rob Beitzel as Howie Newsome, Kati Brazda as Mrs. Webb, George Demas as Constable Warren, Donna Jay Fulks as Mrs. Soames, Jennifer Grace as Emily, Wilbur Edwin Henry as Professor Willard, Adam Hinkle as Joe Crowell, Ronete Levenson as Rebecca Gibbs, James McMenamin as George, Ken Marks as Editor Webb, Jonathan Mastro as Simon Stimson, Seamus Mulcahy as Wally Webb, Lori Myers as Mrs. Gibbs, Jay Russell as Joe Stoddard, Jeff Still as Doc Gibbs, Jason Yachanin as Si Crowell.

Cromer's critically acclaimed staging of Our Town began New York performances Feb. 17 and opened to enthusiastic reviews on Feb. 26. The Barrow Street venue has been completely redesigned for this production.

The production has its roots in a non-Equity 2008 Chicago staging by Cromer for The Hypocrites Theatre. The independent New York version is Equity-affiliated. In recent days, that seminal Hypocrites Theatre production was nominated for two Joseph Jefferson Awards in Chicago (for direction and production). In New York, the production has earned Lucille Lortel Award nominations for Outstanding Revival and Outstanding Director (David Cromer), and Drama League Nominations for Outstanding Revival of a Play and Distinguished Performance (David Cromer).

Cromer directed last season's praised Off-Broadway musical, Adding Machine. The director will make his Broadway directing debut in the fall with Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound.

Parkinson's credits include Off-Broadway's Rose Rage; The Third Story (MCC); Crime & Punishment (59E59). Regionally, he's appeared at Shakespeare Theatre; Old Globe; La Jolla Playhouse; Mark Taper Forum; Chicago: Chicago Shakespeare; Goodman; Writers'; Court; Northlight.

Our Town is produced by Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian, Tom Wirtshafter, Ted Snowdon, Eagle Productions, Dena Hammerstein/Pam Pariseau, The Weinstein Company and Burnt Umber Productions.

Tickets are priced $69 and $49.50 and are available through smarttix (212) 868-4444, www.smarttix.com, or at the Barrow Street Theatre box office (open at 1 PM daily).
