Playwrights Suzan-Lori Parks (The America Play, Venus) and Amy Freed (Freedomland) will discuss their craft in a symposium on May 11 at the Wilma Theater in Philadelphia. The event, called "Lingua Americana: Two American Masters of Dialogue in Dialogue," is free, but reservations are recommended. The discussion is presented in conjunction with the Wilma's mounting of Freed's The Psychic Life of Savages, a satire about the perils of genius drawing from the lives of poets Robert Lowell, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, and Ted Hughes. Parks, meanwhile, is Wilma's current playwright in-residence.
