Michael Wilson (Enchanted April) will direct the Off-Broadway staging set to open Aug. 5 at Primary Stages new home at the 59E59 Theaters for a run through Aug. 29.
The Day Emily Married finds a newlywed couple (Foote and Colby) moving into the house of the second-time bride's parents (Parsons and McGuire). The title character soon finds herself caught between her seemingly-ideal husband and her family. The play combines many former Hoote associates: director Wilson (The Carpetbagger's Children), actress Parsons (The Last of the Thorntons), actor McGuire (The Young Man from Atlanta) and the playwright's daughter (The Carpetbagger's Children, The Last of the Thorntons).
Parsons, McGuire, Colby and Foote are featured in an ensemble that also includes Terri Keane, Delores Mitchell and Pamela Payton-Wright.
The design team for The Day Emily Married features Jeff Cowie (scenic), David C. Woolard (costume), Rui Rita (lighting) and Andre Pluess (sound).
Parsons, who recently directed Salome on Broadway, has been Tony Award nominated for her acting turns in Morning's at Seven, Miss Margarida's Way, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little and The Seven Descents of Myrtle. She is also known as the mother to the title character in "Roseanne" and the Academy Award winner for her turn in the film "Bonnie and Clyde." McGuire, Tony Award-nominated for his turn in Morning's at Seven, played on Broadway in Conversations With My Father and the original productions of South Pacific, Dance Me a Song, The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, Father's Day, Camelot, A View From the Bridge and Mary, Mary. Other credits include Finian's Rainbow, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Last Yankee, The Time of Your Life and the films "Serpico" and the original "The Thomas Crown Affair."
Colby appeared at Hartford Stage in Camino Real and as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire. His New York credits include Hamlet on Broadway and Labor Day, The Devils, A Park in Our House, Blade to the Heat, Hard Hats, The Grey Zone and The Food Chain Off-Broadway. He has appeared on television in "NYPD Blue," "Profiler," "Early Edition," "All My Children," "As the World Turns" and in the films "Looking for Richard," "The Paper," "The Peacemaker."
Actress Foote appeared on Broadway in A Little Family Business and Off Broadway in When They Speak of Rita, The Roads to Home, The Widow Claire and her father's season at the Signature Theatre including Talking Pictures, Night Seasons and Laura Dennis.
Payton-Wright, who recently played Off-Broadway in Duet and Fifth of July, has performed on Broadway in Long Day's Journey Into Night, Garden District, The Night of the Iguana, M. Butterfly, The Glass Menagerie, All Over Town, Mourning Becomes Electra, The Crucible and Jimmy Shine.
