Doyle is the Tony Award-winning director of the recent Broadway revivals of Sweeney Todd and Company (as well as the upcoming Pump Boys and Dinettes).
Passion will begin performances Feb. 7, 2013, at CSC's home at 136 E. 13th Street. Opening night is Feb. 28.
The musical set in a remote Italian soldiers' outpost in the 19th century opened on Broadway in spring 1994 and won the Tony Award that year for Best Musical.
Silverman, who also played Raoul in the Las Vegas production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom, appeared in Music in the Air (as Karl) for Encores!; Cry-Baby on Broadway, and as Al in The Most Happy Fella by New York City Opera. In London he played Tony in the Olivier Award-nominated West Side Story. He starred as Sky in the national tour of Mamma Mia!, and as Jose in the world premiere of the new musical Carmen at La Jolla Playhouse. He also performed in the Chicago production of Wicked.
Additional casting and creative team for Passion (which has a book by Lapine and music and lyrics by Sondheim) will be announced shortly.
