News Patricia Conolly Among Cast for Irish Rep's Off-Broadway Premiere Irish Repertory Theatre will present the New York premiere of Nate Rufus Edelman’s The Belle of Belfast, featuring Patricia Conolly (Rasheeda Speaking, Is He Dead?) and helmed by award-winning stage and screen director Claudia Weill.

Performances will run April 15 through June 7 at the DR2 Theatre with an official opening night slated for April 23.

A stage, film and television director, Weill is known for her direction of the 1975 acclaimed classic indie film, "Girlfriends." She will direct a cast featuring Conolly, Hamish Allan-Headly, Arielle Hoffman, Kate Lydic and Billy Meleady.

Set in 1985 in Belfast, Ireland, The Belle of Belfast is centered on fiery Anne Malloy who drinks and smokes her days away with her chubby best friend. When Anne turns to her parish priest for comfort, her troubles begin to increase. It is billed as a "wry and bittersweet portrait of a city at war."

The show will feature scenic design by John McDermott, costume design by Terese Wadden, lighting design by Justin Townsend, sound design by Daniel Kluger and projections by Jeff Larson. Stephen Gabis is the dialect coach and the production stage manager is Christine Lemme.

Nate Rufus Edelman is a writer and director for the stage and screen. His theatre works have been produced at Cherry Lane and The Vineyard Off-Broadway.
