Classic Arts News Pavarotti Recovering From Neck Surgery Tenor Luciano Pavarotti had surgery on his neck in New York two weeks ago, the Associated Press reports.
The operation, at Lenox Hill Hospital, successfully repaired a posterior decompression of two vertebrae, and Pavarotti was released from the hospital within a couple of days. He has since been recovering in his New York apartment.

"The procedure was a routine and regular operation, and the doctors are delighted with Luciano's fast recovery," Pavarotti spokesperson Terri Robson told the AP. "He is currently rehearsing with his conductor, Leone Magiera, every day."

Pavarotti, who retired from opera last year, is currently in the midst of a farewell concert tour. He last performed in Caracas, Venezuela, on March 3. He will resume the tour on April 2 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Subsequent tour stops include Dubai, United Arab Emirates (April 7); Kiev, Ukraine (April 13); Rotterdam, Netherlands (April 16); and Prague, Czech Republic (April 20). According to the AP, U.S. dates include a concert at the Hollywood Bowl on October 24, 12 days after Pavarotti's 70th birthday, and a final gala performance in New York next year.
