Classic Arts News Pavarotti to Undergo Second Surgery, Postpones Concerts Luciano Pavarotti will undergo a second medical procedure on his neck in early June, and has postponed or canceled four concerts in Europe as a result.
The concerts at Madejski Stadium in Reading, scheduled for June 11, and Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, scheduled for July 9, will now take place on July 1 and 8, 2006. The events are part of the 69-year-old tenor's lengthy farewell tour.

A concert scheduled for Nimes, France, on July 15 has also postponed until 2006, but a new date has not yet been set. In addition, a concert in Toledo, Spain, on June 22 has been canceled because a new date could not be found.

Pavarotti underwent surgery in March at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital to repair two vertebrae in his neck. According to his spokesperson, the operation went well, but a second procedure was always planned.

"His doctors reported that he recovered very quickly from his operation and have now advised him that the second and final stage of this procedure must take place at the beginning of June 2005," Terri Robson said in a statement.
