Classic Arts News Pavarotti's Farewell Tour to Stop in Washington in June Luciano Pavarotti will make his final Washington, D.C., appearance at the Verizon Center on June 21, the tenor announced.
The concert at the 20,000-seat basketball arena will include highlights from Pavarotti's four-decade opera and concert career, including songs and arias by Tosti, Bellini, Puccini, Mascagni, and Verdi.

Tickets for the concerts go on sale on March 11 and are available through www.ticketmaster.com, the Verizon Center box office, or by calling 202-397-SEAT, 703-573-SEAT, or 410-547-SEAT.

"I am more than delighted to come back to Washington, D.C.," Pavarotti said in a statement. "I just have the best memories for this great city and I very much hope that the audience will enjoy this special evening as much as we enjoy being there the last time performing for you."

Pavarotti, who gave his final opera performance at the Metropolitan Opera in 2004, is in the midst of a worldwide farewell concert tour. The tour was originally scheduled to end by Pavarotti's 70th birthday in October 2005 but he said last fall that he expected it to last for another year or two before ending in Milan, London, Vienna, or the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
