Songwriter/performer Carole King, whose life forms the blueprint for Broadway's Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, is the subject of the Feb. 19 broadcast of the PBS series "American Masters."

Titled "Carole King: Natural Woman," the program premieres at 9 PM ET; check local listings.

The special "delves into the hit singer-songwriter's life and career from 1960s New York to the music mecca of 70s L.A. to the present. Carole King joins collaborators and family in new interviews, while rare home movies, performances and photos complete the tapestry."

The latter is a reference to King's four-time Grammy-winning album "Tapestry," which marked the 45th anniversary of its release Feb. 10.
