Classic Arts News PBS's Live From Lincoln Center to Broadcast New York Philharmonic's Opening Night Gala The Opening Night Gala of the New York Philharmonic's 2006-07 season will be telecast by PBS. The concert, presented by the network's Live From Lincoln Center series, will be broadcast live from Avery Fisher Hall on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 8:00 pm Eastern time (check local listings).
The program, conducted by Philharmonic music director Lorin Maazel, features two popular Beethoven works: the Egmont Overture and the "Eroica" Symphony (No. 3). In addition, pianists Emanuel Ax and Yefim Bronfman will be the soloists in Mozart's Concerto in E-flat for Two Pianos, K. 316. For Ax and Bronfman, who often perform together, this will be the first joint appearance on PBS.
