News Performances at Darkened Theatres Canceled for Nov. 16-18 Weekend Due to the ongoing stagehands strike, which began Nov. 10, the League of American Theatres and Producers has announced on its official website that performances on Friday, Nov. 16; Saturday, Nov. 17; and Sunday, Nov. 18 have been canceled for the 27 theatres darkened by the strike.

Twenty-seven Broadway shows are currently dark because of the strike. Only eight shows will perform Nov. 16-18. Those shows include Cymbeline, Mary Poppins, Mauritius, Pygmalion, The Ritz, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Xanadu and Young Frankenstein. These productions are housed in theatres whose contracts with Local One are separate. As previously reported, the League and Local One, the stagehands union, will return to the negotiating table this coming weekend. A statement from the League and Local One issued Nov. 14 reads: "Talks have been scheduled between Local One and The League of American Theaters and Producers beginning this weekend, at an undisclosed place and time. No interviews or comment from either organization will be issued until further notice."
