Kim Neufield, general manager of Gateway Theatre, Richmond BC has announced the 1997-98 season for the company. Buoyed by a very successful '96-'97 season which saw a 44 percent increase in attendance over the previous year, Gateway Theatre is poised for an even better year ahead.

The new season is:

Running Dog, Paper Tiger, (Oct. 16 - Nov. 1, 1997) by Simon Johnston, directed by Bill Dow. A world premiere, set in Hong Kong in 1967 when communists inspired riots against British rule. Winner of the 1995 Theatre BC National Playwrighting Competition.

Peter Pan, The Musical, (Dec. 11, 1997 - Jan. 4 1998) by J.M. Barrie, lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Music by Mark Charlap and Julie Styne. The Number 14, (Feb. 12-28, 1998) A co-production of Axis Theatre and Touchstone Theatre. Six performers create 60 characters as they travel to a Broadway engagement on the #14 Hastings bus.

An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestly, Apr 16 - May 2 '98). A co-production with Western Canada Theatre Company. Gateway Theatre box office: (604) 270-1812.
