What with two shows currently on Broadway (Titanic and the Roundabout's revival of 1776), Peter Stone has been having a very good year. It gets even better June 8, when Stone will receive the York Theatre Company's annual Oscar Hammerstein Award for lifetime achievement in musical theatre.
Librettist Stone's other credits include Woman of the Year and Skyscraper.
Founded by Janet Hayes Walker, the Hammerstein Award has previously honored such notables as Stephen Schwartz (1997), Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim, Cy Coleman and Harold Prince.
