Classic Arts News Philadelphia Orchestra Tries Out Podcasting The Philadelphia Orchestra has launched a series of four trial podcasts it is calling "Podchestra."
Podcast subscribers can listen to previews of upcoming concerts and interviews with Philadelphia Orchestra musicians as well as with three soloists who appear with the orchestra in April: pianist Piotr Anderszewski and violinists Julia Fischer and Janine Jansen. Topics to be discussed include debuts and life on the road.

The Boston Symphony and the Los Angeles and San Francisco Opera companies are among those who have recently begun podcasting.

The Philadelphia Orchestra's trial podcast series is its latest media venture; the orchestra recently launched an online music store, returned to national radio broadcasts through an agreement with National Public Radio and signed its first recording contract in nearly 10 years with Ondine Records.
