Philadelphia’s Lone Wolf Tribe will return to New York City to present a limited engagement of Once Vaudeville, a look at a vaudeville ventriloquist written and performed by Kevin Augustine. Vaudeville will run Oct. 14-31 at The Present Company Theatorium (198 Stanton Street).

Once Vaudeville is a black comedy about an aging vaudeville ventriloquist and his choice between career and family. Augustine utilizes foam puppet creations, worked in the Japanese Banraku style, to portray six of the nine characters in the piece. The play’s climax comes as puppet and puppeteer engage in a knife wielding showdown.

Once Vaudeville premiered in October 1997 at Philadelphia's Independent Eye Theatre, before an engagement at the 1998 New York International Fringe Festival.

Once Vaudeville runs Oct. 14-31, at The Present Company Theatorium, Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 PM. For tickets ($12) or more information call (212) 420-8877.
