Classic Arts News Phoenix Symphony Announces 2006-07 Season The Phoenix Symphony's 2006-07 season will include visits from flutist James Galway, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and violinist Midori, the orchestra announced.
Michael Christie, the orchestra's music director since fall 2005, will lead sixteen weeks of concerts in his second season, focusing on the music of Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Christopher Rouse. He will also lead intermission discussions featuring soloists and members of the orchestra.

The season opens on September 9 with a concert featuring Galway and his wife, flutist Jeanne Galway, in a program of Beethoven, Mozart and Liszt.

Other guest soloists include pianists Stephen Hough, Alexander Kobrin, and Robert Levin; flutist Carol Wincenc; cellist Alban Gerhardt, and baritone Philip Cutlip. Guest conductors include James Judd, Carlos Miguel Prieto, and Christopher Seaman. Pinchas Zukerman will appear as violinist and conductor.
