News PHOTO CALL: A First Look at Blythe Danner in Nice Work If You Can Get It Tony Award winner Blythe Danner joined the cast of Broadway's Nice Work If You Can Get It for 12 weeks starting Dec. 18 the Imperial Theatre. She takes the rich-matron role of Millicent Winter, mother of Jimmy, played by Matthew Broderick.

The part was created by Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons, who played her final performance on Dec. 16.

A First Look at Blythe Danner in Nice Work If You Can Get It


Danner won a Tony Award in 1970 for her Broadway debut in Butterflies Are Free. Danner was Tony-nominated for her work in Betrayal; the 1988 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire; and in 2001 for the revival of Follies. Her work in "We Were the Mulvaneys" earned her an Emmy Award nomination. In both 2005 and 2006, she won back-to-back Emmy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Izzy in Showtime's "Huff." She was Emmy-nominated as Outstanding Guest Actress for her work on "Will & Grace" and the TV film "Back When We Were Grownups."

Nice Work If You Can Get It features music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro. Two-time Tony winner Broderick stars opposite four-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara.

The production is directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. Nice Work tickets are currently on sale through June 2, 2013.

The company also features two-time Tony winner Judy Kaye as Estonia Dulworth (a Tony-winning turn), Tony winner Michael McGrath as Cookie McGee (another Tony-winning turn), Tony nominee Jennifer Laura Thompson as Eileen Evergreen, Chris Sullivan as Duke Mahoney, Robyn Hurder as Jeannie Muldoon, Stanley Wayne Mathis as Chief Berry and Tony Award nominee Terry Beaver as Senator Max Evergreen, with Cameron Adams, Clyde Alves, Kaitlyn Davidson, Jason DePinto, Kimberly Fauré, Robert Hartwell, Grasan Kingsberry, Stephanie Martignetti, Barrett Martin, Michael X. Martin, Shina Ann Morris, Adam Perry, Jeffrey Schecter, Jennifer Smith, Joey Sorge, Samantha Sturm, Kristen Beth Williams, Candice Marie Woods.

Set in the Roaring '20s, and inspired by the old Gershwin musical Oh, Kay!, the new musical features the Gershwin songs "Someone to Watch Over Me," "I've Got to Be There," "Sweet & Lowdown," "'S Wonderful," "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," "Fascinating Rhythm," "But Not for Me" and more.
