A Man of No Importance, with music and lyrics by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens and a book by Terrence McNally, is based on the 1994 film of the same name. Set in 1964 Dublin, Alfie Byrne (Rees) is a closeted gay bus driver with a passion for Oscar Wilde who still lives with his sister (Faith Prince). A Man of No Importance concerns Alfie's torn passion for two people and his coming to terms with his true nature as he gets involved in a church staging of Wilde's Salome.
