Tony's nominated leading ladies made an appearance at the May 11 Drama League Awards - Bells Are Ringing's Faith Prince, 42nd Street's Christine Ebersole and Jane Eyre's Marla Schaffel (with her co-star James Barbour). 2001's top Drama League Awards went to Proof and The Producers with Distinguished Revival going to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Other awards went to Mary Louise Parker and Gary Sinise for performance, Jack O'Brien for directing, Susan Stroman for outstanding achievement in the musical theatre and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company of Chicago for outstanding contribution to the theatre.
