Award-winning Best Little Whorehouse in Texas composer-lyricist Carol Hall caught the Feb. 26 performance of David Campbell's new cabaret at Cafe Carlyle. During the evening, Campbell, who made a splash as the lead in Stephen Sondheim's Saturday Night, pays tribute to two of his favorite singers: Bobby Darin, the early rock idol who, with "Mack the Knife," switched mid-career from pop to swinging lounge-style singing; and Sammy Davis, Jr., the tap dance, actor and Rat Pack member who's best remembered for his rendition of "The Candy Man." Campbell performs through March 23.
