Arthur Laurents stages the musical with Joey McKneely re-creating the original Jerome Robbins choreography. Following, the D.C. run, the classic musical begins at Broadway's Palace Theatre Feb. 23, 2009.

West Side Story features music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Laurents.

The cast is headed by Matt Cavenaugh (as Tony), Josefina Scaglione (Maria), Karen Olivo (Anita), Cody Green (Riff) and George Akram (Bernardo).

"West Side Story transports the achingly beautiful tale of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to the turbulent streets of the Upper West Side in 1950's New York City," according to a press release.
