News PHOTO CALL: Broadway's Race Welcomes Izzard, Haysbert and Williamson Eddie Izzard, Dennis Haysbert and Afton C. Williamson, will join the Broadway run of David Mamet's Race June 15. The new cast met the press at a June 8 event.

Izzard, who made his Broadway debut in 2003's Joe Egg, will succeed James Spader in the role of attorney Jack Lawson in the Broadway drama. Izzard is best known for his stand up comedy evenings such as Unrepeatable, Definite Article, Glorious, Dressed to Kill and Circle. Izzard also earned an Olivier Award nomination for Eddie Izzard: Live at the Ambassadors. Haysbert and Williamson replace David Alan Grier and Kerry Washington, respectively, in the roles of Henry Brown and Susan. Williamson was last seen in Joe Turner's Come and Gone. Haysbert is known for his work on the TV drama "24", Race will be his Broadway debut.

Richard Thomas, who originated the role of Charles Strickland, is the only original cast member who will be staying with the production through it's closing date in August.
