The story of Caroline, maid to a Southern Jewish family during the tumultuous civil rights era in the United States, earned spectacular reviews for its star, Tony nominee Tonya Pinkins.

A party in honor of the production was held at Rosie O'Grady's restaurant on West 46th Street after the final performance. In attendance were, among others, co-stars Chuck Cooper and Anika Noni Rose (Tony winner for her role as Caroline's daughter), David Costabile and Veanne Cox, and Tony Kushner, Pinkins and Kimberly Grigsby.

Caroline, or Change was directed by George C. Wolfe and transferred to Broadway after a sold-out run at the Public Theater.
