The Public Theater reunites the cast from last summer's 40th anniversary concert for a full Shakespeare in the Park staging. Diane Paulus directs, and Karole Armitage choreographs.
Featuring book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot, Hair is subtitled The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. The rock musical originally opened in 1967 at The Public Theater and then became the first off-Broadway musical to transfer to Broadway — where it played for 1,873 performances.
