Newcomer Anika Noni Rose garnered a Tony Award for her performance as Tonya Pinkins' daughter in the Tony Kushner-Jeanine Tesori musical, which started Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in fall 2003 and jumped to Broadway in spring 2004 before closing and shipping out to L.A.

At left is Broadway favorite Kristin Chenoweth, as well as actress Camryn Manheim and Assassins star Neil Patrick Harris. Below, Rose, Tesori, Pinkins and Kushner are seen at the post opening reception.

The L.A. run will play the Ahmanson Theatre through Dec. 26, with a cast featuring Sy Adamowsky, Reathel Bean, Tracy Nicole Chapman, David Costabile, Veanne Cox, Cicily Daniels, Danny Fetter, Aisha de Haas, Marva Hicks, Capathia Jenkins, Larry Keith, Paula Newsome, Benjamin Platt, Alice Playten, Kenna Ramsey, Michael A. Shepperd, Leon G. Thomas III, Corwin Tuggles and Renn Woods.
