NewsPHOTO CALL: Chloe Sevigny, Mark Ruffalo, Peter Dinklage, Ethan Hawke, Zoe Kazan and More Celebrate Clive Opening NightThe New Group's production of Jonathan Marc Sherman's Clive, about a songwriter living in New York City in the '90s, officially opened Off-Broadway Feb. 7 at 7 PM at The New Group at Theatre Row.
Also directed by Hawke, the production began previews Jan. 17. Performances continue through March 9.
Inspired by Bertolt Brecht's inflammatory play Baal, Clive, according to press notes, "tracks a dissipated songwriter in 1990s New York City from the hedonistic heights of seduction and consumption into an ecstasy of self-destruction."
This production reunites playwright Sherman and director Hawke, who teamed previously at The New Group on Things We Want (written by Sherman, directed by Hawke, 2007 extended run).
The play also features music and sound sculptures by GAINES with live violin performance by Dana Lyn; set design by Derek McLane; costume design by Catherine Zuber; lighting design by Jeff Croiter; and sound design by Shane Rettig.
Performances are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 PM and Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 PM with matinees Saturday at 2 PM.
Tickets may be arranged through telecharge.com or (212) 239-6200, or at the Theatre Row Box Office (12–8 PM daily). Tickets are $60 plus $1.25 restoration fee.
