News PHOTO CALL: Current Cast Toasts Four Years of The Producers on Broadway On Wednesday, April 20 the monstrous hit musical The Producers, the most decorated show in Tony Awards history, reached a milestone: the 4th anniversary of its Broadway opening.

The Mel Brooks-Thomas Meehan musical is one of the Great White Way’s true juggernauts, surviving cast changes and the debut of other mega-shows (such as Monty Python’s Spamalot across the street at the Shubert Theatre) to consistently bring in top box office numbers.

Below, a backstage celebration after the milestone performance is seen, as the cast and crew were treated to a specially made birthday cake to mark the occasion.

The Producers plays at the St. James Theatre on West 44th Street.
