Singin' in the Rain features a book adapted by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, who penned the film's screenplay; music by Nacio Herb Brown; and lyrics by Arthur Freed.
"The talkies are nudging out the silent movies, and screen idol Don Lockwood and his spoiled and nasal co-star Lina Lamont are struggling to make the transition," according to press notes. "Don’s romance with the lovely and talented Kathy Selden only complicates things further, and the result? Big dance romance and a happy Hollywood ending."
The creative team also includes musical director Michael Horsley, sound designer Jason Krueger, lighting designer F. Mitchell Dana and scenic designer Steven Gilliam with costumes designed by Kansas City Costume.
Paul Blake produces. Mike Bosner is associate producer, and Harold Goldfaden is the production stage manager.
The remainder of the season includes Little Shop of Horrors, July 25-31; Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Aug. 1-7; and Bye Bye Birdie, Aug. 8-14.
This season marks Paul Blake's last as executive producer of The Muny. Mike Isaacson will succeed Blake beginning with the 2012 season at the St. Louis theatre. Blake has served as executive producer of The Muny since 1990.
