2002 Oscar winner Ron Howard ("A Beautiful Mind") was on hand for the May 21 opening of Manhattan Theatre Club's House and Garden to congratulate daughter Bryce Dallas Howard on her Off-Broadway debut. In the comedies, Howard, a recent NYU graduate, plays Sally Platt, precocious daughter of the main character, Teddy.

The plot of Alan Ayckbourn's House and Garden is typically farcical with marriages and careers on the rocks, colorful friends and neighbors and the odd sexual encounter in the bushes. What makes the twin comedies so special is that they play at the same time in two different theatres — as an actor exits House, she is on her way to an entrance in Garden and vice versa.
