The musical conjures the defunct, highly theatrical minstrel show form to tell the tale of a group of young black men who were accused of raping two white women in Scottsboro, AL, in 1931.
The Scottsboro Boys boasts a score by John Kander and the late lyricist Fred Ebb, libretto by David Thompson and direction and choreography by Susan Stroman.
