On Dec. 12 a reception honoring Des McAnuff and hosted by Canada's Consul General in New York, John Prato, was held at Canada's Official Residence on Park Avenue.
The event — which attracted over 90 people including Paul Shaffer, Rocco Landesman and Peter Gelb — celebrated recent multiple landmarks in the Tony Award-winning Canadian stage director's career, with particular focus on the central role he is playing in the 2011-12 New York cultural season.

McAnuff made his Metropolitan Opera directorial debut with November's Faust, and his acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival production of Jesus Christ Superstar will make its Broadway bow in March. His Tony Award-winning Jersey Boys continues to thrive after more than six years on Broadway.
Betty Buckley, Matthew Broderick, André De Shields, Jane Krakowski, Patti LuPone, Donna Murphy, and Lillias White will also be part of The York Theatre Company benefit.
