Oct. 8, after the show, cast members from the original staging of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Flower Drum Song met up with the new stars of the musical, now with a rewritten book by David Henry Hwang. Among the returnees were Cely Carrillo (Mei-Li); Susan Lynn Kikuchi (Child); ensemble members Jose Ahumada, Fumi Akimoto, Paula Chin and Betty Kawamura; and Maureen Tiongco, who played Mei-Li for over 2,000 performances nationally and internationally.
The new play, now on Broadway via Second Stage, stars Jessica Lange, Jim Parsons, and Celia Keenan-Bolger.
Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada lead the cast of the book-to-stage adaptation.
