The Best Man's playwright Gore Vidal (far right) takes his opening night bow Sept. 17 with stars Charles Durning, Chris Noth and Christine Ebersole. Gore Vidal's The Best Man, a three-act drama set at a 1960 Presidential Convention in Philadelphia, began performances at the Virginia Theatre Sept. 5. The revival (the original Best Man premiered at the Morosco Theatre March 31, 1960) runs through Dec. 31. Ethan McSweeny directs stars Charles Durning, Spalding Gray, Chris Noth, Elizabeth Ashley, Christine Ebersole and Michael Learned.
