News PHOTO CALL: Imelda Takes on London! First Production Pics From Here Lies Love at the National Theatre's Refurbished Dorfman Theatre Here Lies Love, currently running at Off-Broadway's Public Theater in an open-ended commercial run following its premiere there last year, began performances at the new Dorfman Theatre (formerly the Cottesloe) at London's National Theatre Sept. 30, prior to an official opening Oct. 13. This follows the theatre's complete refurbishment as part of the NT Future project.

The production is booking for a continuous run through Jan. 8, 2015.

According to press materials, the show "traces the astonishing journey of Imelda Marcos, First Lady of the Philippines, from her meteoric rise to power to descent into infamy and disgrace." The new Dorfman Theatre is transformed into a pulsating club for an immersive theatrical event, which combines heart-pounding beats with adrenaline-fueled choreography and 360-degree staging.

As in New York, spectators with tickets for the the pit performance area stand and dance with the actors during the show. There is seating available in the galleries.

The musical features concept and lyrics by David Byrne (founding member of the band Talking Heads and creator of the record label Luaka Pop) and music by Byrne and Fatboy Slim (also known as Norman Cook, who is a Grammy Award-winning DJ, musician and record producer and first rose to prominence in the 1980s as bassist of the indie rock band The Housemartins, and went on to form the band Beats International). They previously collaborated in 2008 with Dizzee Rascal on The Brighton Port Authority. There is additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo. The musical is directed by Alex Timbers (last represented on Broadway by Rocky), with choreography by Annie-B Parson, set design by David Korins, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting by Justin Townsend, sound by M. L. Dogg and Cody Spencer, and projection design by Peter Nigrini. The music supervisor is Kimberly Grigsby; Justin Levine is the collaborating music producer, and the music editor is Matt Stine.

Here Lies Love is presented by special arrangement with Joey Parnes and EMURSIVE.

The cast is led by Mark Bautista (as Ferdinand Marcos), Natalie Mendoza (as Imelda Marcos) and Dean John-Wilson (as Ninoy Aquino). Also in the company are Christina Allado, Gia Macuja Atchison, Lauren Chia, Christopher Chung, Julius Ebreo, Jim Andrew Ferrer, Li-Tong Hsu, Maria Lawson, Kok-Hwa Lie, Frances Mayli McCann, Aaron Jan Mercado, Martin Sarreal, Julie Yammanee and Sunny Yeo.
